Announcing one of the Largest Carbon Removal Units Ever - Highlights from the launch of our Kiloton-Scale Direct Air Capture Unit

Thank you to everyone who attended the unveiling of Global Thermostat’s Kiloton-Scale Direct Air Capture commercial demonstration plant at our headquarters in Commerce City, Colorado! With a capture capacity of 1,000 tons per year, our new plant is the largest in the United States and one of the largest in the world. Our team of over 30 engineers, technicians, and operators was joined by Colorado Governor Jared Polis, U.S. House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Sarah Forbes of the White House Climate Policy Office, and corporate partners, investors, and environmental NGO leaders to celebrate the achievement. See the event highlights in the video below and our official launch announcement here.

Why Direct Air Capture is Critical for the Climate

Humanity has already profoundly altered Earth’s atmosphere — over one third of global atmospheric carbon dioxide was caused by human activity. While cutting carbon emissions remains the most important step we can take to solve climate change, Direct Air Capture will play an essential role in removing the carbon dioxide we have already emitted to reverse the impacts of rising global temperatures.

Global Thermostat's mission is to develop and deploy the world’s best Direct Air Capture technologies to unlock new, air-based sources of carbon for the global economy and address climate change at scale. Our goal is to build a truly world-class business that measurably impacts the actual temperature of the planet. Here is what some key leaders had to say about the importance of Direct Air Capture to our future:

"This is what confronting climate change looks like."
- Colorado Senator Michael Bennet

"It's nothing less than saving our planet and our way of life."
-Colorado Governor Jared Polis

What this Milestone Means... for Us and the Climate

Our kiloton-scale Direct Air Capture unit is the largest in the U.S., and one of the largest in the world. We have to remove billions of tons of CO2 from the atmosphere over the coming decades, and this is an important milestone for us and the industry. This machine is just one step on that journey, but it is a big one.

Global Thermostat's Direct Air Capture solution is fundamentally advantaged, highly advanced and inherently scalable. "We are already in discussions with multiple partners about moving from kiloton to hundreds of kilotons in the next couple years and then shortly thereafter move to the megaton scale… We can avoid catastrophic climate change. There is still time. But we have to act now,” said Global Thermostat CEO Paul Nahi. Our featured speakers agreed:

"When the story of humanity's victory over the climate crisis is written, today will be a defining moment. What a thrill it is to be here to witness this great transformation."
- Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi

"To see these planet-saving technologies move from concept to actual existence is just exciting. It gives me optimism for the planet."
- Colorado Governor Jared Polis

Man speaking at podium

"As a veteran of the renewable energy industry, I’ve seen and helped build multiple markets and what I see today in Direct Air Capture reminds me a lot of the early days of solar, said Global Thermostat's CEO Paul Nahi. "We can, once and for all, kill the narrative that doing something to help the planet will hurt the economy.”

What Comes Next?

We need YOU! We’re seeking aligned customers and partners who share a strategic imperative to scale the most efficient Direct Air Capture solution for carbon removal, carbon utilization, and industrial gas applications as soon as possible.

We’re also committed to contributing to the positive, sustainable, and equitable development of the circular carbon economy. If you're looking to partner with a Direct Air Capture company to ensure this ecosystem evolves in a way that is good for people, profits, and planet, please let us know...

We’ve proven our technology works, and now we’re bringing it to market. We will help stabilize the temperature of the planet by creating a global industry utilizing and sequestering carbon.
- Paul Nahi, CEO of Global Thermostat

"Today represents the critical mass of CCS expertise and knowledge and insight… working together, we’re more than the sum of our parts.”
- Ashleigh Ross, VP, Strategic Engagement and Policy, Carbon America

We'd like this to be a two-way dialogue. Together, we can unlock massive, air carbon industries and address climate change at its source. We'd love to hear from you! Contact us

We look forward to continuing the conversation.
